Adolescence is a crucial stage in human development, during which personal identity is formed and essential decisions for the future are made. According to Erik Erikson, adolescents are in the process of finding meaning in their lives, establishing social connections, and defining their professional aspirations.

Recently, the Rotary Club of Doral had the privilege of visiting the C.O.P.E. school, an educational institution dedicated to supporting pregnant teens or young mothers, allowing them to continue their studies while their children are cared for in a specialized daycare center. This school provides a real opportunity for young women who, despite facing significant challenges, have chosen to move forward with courage and responsibility.

During our visit, we facilitated a mental health activity designed to promote emotional well-being. The students participated in sessions that allowed them to express their feelings, share their fears, talk about their goals, and—most importantly—recognize their strengths. We used role-playing techniques to encourage empathy and self-reflection. The school’s guidance counselor also provided valuable support throughout the activity.

C.O.P.E. North includes a fully equipped daycare center for the students’ children, allowing the young mothers to study in a safe and supportive environment. It is a place that offers new beginnings to adolescents who have chosen motherhood and are embracing that role with commitment and love.

The Rotary Club of Doral invites the community to continue supporting this important initiative. The students at C.O.P.E. deserve all the resources necessary to grow as individuals and raise their children with dignity, love, and resilience.
